RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician men's basketball now holds a two game losing streak after their second half loss to Wilmington (Del.) University, 90-95, in JJJ Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
The green-and-gold is following a pattern of holding a lead advantage at the halfway point as they paced the Wildcats, 48-43, after 20-minutes of play.
Here's What Happened:
- The Wildcats would jump in front first until Anas Amos (Newark, N.J.) bucketed a trey to equalize the score at eight. From that point, the contest featured two lead changes, one of which coming from an Abdul Shanunu (Accra, Ghana) trey giving the Golden Falcons the 13-11 advantage to ultimately hold their advantage up until halftime, 48-43.
- In the second half, the Golden Falcons shot 50% (15-30) from the field while the Wildcats would post a 68 percentage (17-25) to hand the Golden Falcons the loss.
- Jay'von Jackson (Plainfield, N.J.) ignited the final stanza for the green-and-gold with a bucket in the paint, 50-43; a seven point advantage. Jhonny Tovar (Caracas, Venezulea) would eventually make it eight from the charity stipe, but it didn't take long for Wilmington to catch on.
- After the junior's freebee's, the opposers would fire up a 10-2 run to equalize the score for the fourth time of the contest, but the Golden Falcons did not give up their advantage without a fight. Tavian Pullock (Paterson, N.J.) secured a three pointer to increase their lead by four, 57-53, in hopes to extinguish the Wilmington blaze. Unfortunately, the efforts were diminished as the Wildcats snagged the 57-58 lead and never relinquished it for the remainder of the contest.
- With time dwindling down to under 20 seconds, Jackson would put the Golden Falcons down by 2, 90-92, and after a full court press effort, Wilmington found the seems to secure a quick lay-in for an and-one... which ended regulation 90-95.
