ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - Felician men's basketball has dropped into a three-game losing streak after a crippling Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Dominican (N.Y.) University Wednesday night.
A troublesome first half drove the green-and-gold into a 20-point deficit, 5-25, less than nine minutes into regulation time. With that, the Golden Falcons were not able to fully escape from the trenches of the Charger advantage and dropped, 76-84, after the final buzzer.
Here's What Happened:
- To get straight to the point, the Golden Falcons shot 26% from the field in the opening half in comparison to the Charger's 47%.. not to mention the hosts also recorded a 44% behind the arc performance and Felician had yet to notch their first trey.
- The largest lead for Dominican was 27 at the end of the first, 15-42, but Tavian Pullock (Paterson, N.J.) and Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) posted consecutive points to put the Golden Falcons down 21 to enter the half.
- In the second, Felician defrosted themselves and ignited a spark to outscore the hosts 55-42 in the second half led by McRae, Anas Amos (Newark, N.J.) and Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.). With two minutes remaining in the contest, the green-and-gold slashed the Charger lead down to nine, 69-78, and then later on to six, 76-82, at the 30 second mark.
- After Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Bruinswick, N.J.) posted the final bucket of the night, the Golden Falcons dropped to the Chargers, 76-84, despite the lively second half.
Box Score Insights:
- Four Golden Falcon players posted double-figure points and McRae lead the charge with 17 points shooting 7-10 from the field while also grabbing 11 rebounds for the double-double. Amos finished the night with 16 points and four assists, Colon had 15 points and three steals, and Jhonny Tovar (Caracas, Venezuela) had 13 points and seven rebounds.
- Felician only committed 12 turnovers in the night, but was able to force 15 Charger for 22 converted points.
- The squad shot their worst outing from the long range at 16% (5-30), but shined on the boards as they captured 46 compared to Dominican's 32.
Men's Basketball (8-10 / 4-3 CACC) will be back in action Saturday afternoon in JJJ Gymnasium when they host Holy Family University at 3:30pm.
