PHILADELPHIA, P.A. - Felician men's basketball continued Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, P.A. as they tipped off with Chestnut Hill College.
After the first half, the Golden Falcons shot 50% from behind the arc for the commanding 43-20 lead over the hosts and ultimately ran away with the 88-49 victory to sit 4-0 in CACC.
Here's What Happened:
- The first point of the contest wasn't recorded after approximately three minutes as Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.) netted his first of four treys to kick start the Golden Falcon offensive play. After another Colon bucket and an Abdul Shanunu (Accra, Ghana) steal and point conversion, the Golden Falcons bolted on a 7-0 run over the Griffins.
- Later in the first half, the Griffins attempted to slash the Golden Falcons 9 point lead, 19-10, but Tavian Pullock (Paterson, N.J.) and Colon piled on a combined four threes - two each - to propel the green-and-gold to an 18-point lead, 33-15, with just a little over five minutes left in the first.
- Going into halftime, the Golden Falcons increased their advantage to 23, 43-20, on Anas Amos (Newark, N.J.) free throws and set the tone for the remainder of the contest.
- Throughout the second half, Felician held 30 to 41 point leads, where their largest lead of 41 was recorded with a minute remaining in the contest with Jamling Lama (Secaucus, N.J.) netted a trey.
- With the Golden Falcons holding their commanding leads and dominating the hardwood, the squad ran away with the 88-49 win to remain perfect in the CACC.
Box Score Insights:
- Four Felician players recorded double figure points with Colon leading the charge with 26 shooting 4-6 from behind the arc while Amos was the second highest scorer with 16-points but also tallied two steals.
- Pullock recorded 13 points and Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.) had 12.
- Jhonny Tovar (Caracas, Venezuela) defended the net with eight boards and three blocks to lead the team in both categories.
- The Golden Falcons ended the afternoon shooting 50% (33-65) from the field, 41% (12-29) from three, and 62% (10-16) from the charity stripe. They were also able to force 20 Griffin turnovers for 28 converted points while the hosts only snagged 13 turnovers from Felician.
The men's basketball squad (8-7 / 4-0 CACC) will be back in action on Tuesday for a CACC face off with the North Division leader, Post University, in JJJ Gymnasium at 8:00pm.
