Women’s Soccer Narrowly Losses 2-1 Against Goldey-Beacom

Rutherford NJ - Felician University Women's Soccer played at Newark Academy this afternoon against Goldey-Beacom. In what would be a tough battle on both sides of the ball, the Golden Falcons would lose 2-1. Here's a breakdown of what transpired during today's contest.

First Half: Felician began the match with goalkeeper Isabella Riollano in goal, showing their attacking intent early on.Felician faced a setback in the 16th minute when Goldey-Beacom took the lead through a goal Despite this, Felician remained resilient, with Riollano making a critical save at the 19:20 mark to keep them within reach. Felician's defense held strong as they absorbed pressure coming in from Megan Boddy, Emmy Eskridge, and Makayla Chiariello. They had their own offensive chances. Felicity Urias and Emmy Eskridge both took shots, but they couldn't find the target. At the end of the first half, Felician trailed 1-0 with the potential of making a comeback during this contest.

Second Half: Felician entered the second half determined to level the score. Just three minutes into the second period, Cynthia Amankwaa scored a crucial equalizer for Felician, bringing the match to 1-1 at the 48 minute mark. This goal reignited Felician's momentum, leading to several more attacking plays.The game remained balanced, with Felician's goalkeeper Riollano making multiple saves to keep them in the contest. Kailey Rappel and Briana Franco had solid shot attempts but were met with saves. The team showed strong determination, but Goldey-Beacom scored again in the 76th minute, making the score 2-1.Felician fought hard in the remaining minutes, but despite their efforts, including a last-minute shot by Kailey Rappel that went high, they couldn't equalize again. The game ended with a narrow 2-1 loss for Felician.

Women's Soccer gets a few days off, but are back on the road next Saturday when they go up against Holy Family University at 12:00 PM
