Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Stays Competitive Against Holy Family, But Falls 0-1

Rutherford NJ - Felician University Women's Soccer goes up against Holy Family yesterday afternoon. In what would be a promising contest for the Golden Falcons, as they looked strong defensively throughout this contest, one goal would be the factor as Felician would lose 0-1. Here's a breakdown of what transpired on the pitch.

First Half - Isabella Riollano playing a key role throughout the entire match. Early on, Holy Family pressured Felician with several shots, but Riollano held firm, making important saves to keep the score level. Holy Family managed to score the game's only goal at 19:36, putting Felician behind 0-1. Despite some attempts to respond, including a shot by Kailey Rappel at 32:25 that went high and another at 35:23 that was saved by Holy Family's goalie, Felician couldn't find the equalizer before halftime.

Second Half - In the second half, Riollano continued to shine, making crucial saves, including key stops at 52:13 and 53:09. Felician created a few more chances, like a corner kick at 59:27 and a shot from Rappel that tested the goalkeeper again, but they couldn't find the back of the net. Riollano's efforts in goal, including another crucial save on a header at 80:28, kept Felician within reach. The backline consisting of Megan Boddy, Emmy Eskridge, Ariana Monge, and Lauren Kelbert helped Riollano, making sure they kept applying pressure to Holy Family's front line and not allowing anymore goals to be scored for the rest of the match. However, the team struggled to convert their opportunities into goals, and the match ended with a 0-1 loss.

The Golden Falcons get a few days off but are back on the pitch this Wednesday when they travel up to Bridgeport this Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:00 PM.
