WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS CHESTNUT HILL, WINNING FIRST GAME THIS SEASON

Rutherford, NJ – Felician University Women's Soccer faced off against Chestnut Hill at Newark Academy this evening. In a fast-paced game, the Golden Falcons took the lead and secured a 3-1 victory, marking their first win of the season and their first in two years. Here's a breakdown of a phenomenal night for Women's Soccer.

First Half – The Golden Falcons started with their backs against the wall as Chestnut Hill scored the first goal just seven minutes into the game. However, less than a minute later, Felician answered with a goal from Kate Braun, assisted by Kailey Rappel, evening the score at 1-1. Chestnut Hill continued to press offensively, but goalie Isabella Riollano made several key saves, preventing any further goals in the first half. Megan Boddy also made crucial defensive stops, slowing down the opposition. At the 27th-minute mark, a breakaway by Kate Braun led to her second goal of the game, putting the Golden Falcons ahead 2-1. Both teams had a few more chances, but Felician held onto their lead heading into halftime.

Second Half – The Golden Falcons picked up where they left off in the second half. At the 49-minute mark, Kailey Rappel scored, assisted by Kate Braun, extending the lead to 3-1. Defensive contributions from Emmy Eskridge, Megan Boddy, Felicity Urias, and Ariana Monge helped shut down Chestnut Hill's offensive opportunities. Meanwhile, Isabella Riollano continued to make crucial saves, preventing any additional goals. Felician secured their first win of the season and their first victory in two years.

Golden Falcons Player of the Game – Kate Braun earned Player of the Game honors, recording two goals, one assist, and three shots, serving as the X-factor in securing the victory.

Felician Women's Soccer will celebrate this win for a few days before heading back on the road to face D'Youville this Wednesday at 1 PM.
