East Stroudsburg Fifth Inning Rally Hands Felician the Loss in North Carolina

WILSON, N.C. (Feb. 10, 2024) - Felician baseball sat 1-1 after splitting opening day with East Stroudsburg and Barton College. Saturday afternoon, the Golden Falcons matched up for a final time with the Warriors, but this time ESU had the upper hand and gave Felician the 9-10 loss.

Here's What Happened:
  • The Golden Falcons sparked the contest with four runs in the first inning with the help of Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.), Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Julian Uejima (River Edge, N.J.), 4-1.
  • Uejima would slam his first home run of the season to give the Golden Falcons two more in the bottom of the third, 6-1. The Warriors were able to record three runs right after Ujemias big inning, but Scrivanic recorded another home run of his own in the fifth, 7-4, - his second of the weekend - to have Felician continue to edge ESU.
  • The Warriors obtained the lead after their top-sixth inning rally where they posted five runs and stole the lead from the Golden Falcons, 7-9. Eventually they would record their final run of the contest in the seventh for the 7-10 advantage.
  • With Felician trailing with only two innings left for any scoring opportunity, Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) and Cole Porter (River Vale, N.J.) positioned themselves on the basepaths to be the two Felician runs of the eighth inning, 9-10.
  • The game winning run was on first base in the bottom of the ninth with one out. As Felician was able to shift the runners at the next at bat, the squad could not find the gap to send home the runners for the victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Ujeima went 2-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 walks while Scrivanic went 2-5 with 2 RBIs and a double. Both hitters posted a homer in the contest for the green-and-gold.
  • Five Felician runners posted a stolen base against the Warriors.
  • Daniel Kiritsis (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) started at the mound for the Golden Falcons and pitched 3.0 innings with a strike out and Rafael Solano (Jersey City, N.J.) appeared in 2.2 innings had two strikeouts. Dylan Morrill (Teaneck, N.J.), who ultimately ended up recording the loss in the contest, pitched 3.1 innings and had three strikeouts.
  • The Golden Falcons recorded the line of 9 runs, on 10 hits, and had two fielding errors in the afternoon.
