MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Felician baseball competed in their first doubleheader contest of the 2024 season with the Assumption University Greyhounds in Morehead City, N.C. on Saturday.
In the first contest of the afternoon, the Golden Falcons fell on a Greyhound walk off, 4-5, and then fell in the seven-inning game two 1-4.
GAME ONE: NINE INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
- Felician recorded two runs in the first inning by taking advantage of Assumption's two errors. Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) singled for his first at bat of the day and eventually was put in scoring position on a fielding error. Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) sent him home with an RBI at bat, 1-0.
- The second run of the inning for the green-and-gold came from Julian Ujemia (River Edge, N.J.) who stole home after a Golden Falcon walk, 2-0. By the bottom of the second, the Greyhounds added two runs of their own and created an intense ball game in Big Rock Stadium, 2-2.
- In the top of the fifth inning, Felician added two more runs on a Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) 2 RBI single, 4-2. But, as it was stated before, we had ourselves a ball game when the Greyhounds posted a run in bottom five and another in the seventh for the 4-4 tie.
- With Felician being held scoreless in the final two innings, the Golden Falcons ultimately fell in the ninth on an Assumption walk-off, Â 4-5.
Box Score Insights:
- Starting on the mound for the green-and-gold was Nick DeCarlo (Jackson, N.J.) who pitched 5 innings surrendered three runs but struck out nine.
- Voss went 1-3 at the plate with 2 RBI while Genao had one. Kendrick and Ujemia had two runs apiece for the Golden Falcons.
GAME TWO: SEVEN INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
- In the seven-inning game two, current Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) slammed his third homer of the season in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at one.
- Assumption was able to put up two runs in the fifth and another in the seventh and held the green-and-gold to a cold streak to hand Felician their second loss of the day, 1-4.
Box Score Insights:
- Scrivanic went 2-3 with a homerun and Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, F.L.) went 2-2 with a walk.
- Ganeo and Scrivanic slammed a double each in game two.
- Newcomer pitchers, Daniel Kiritsis (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) and Gavin Enright (Oakland, N.J.), combined for nine strikeouts with six of them coming from starter Kiritsis.
Baseball (1-6) will be back in action for their final contest in Morehead City against #6 Millersville University at 1:00pm.
