MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Felician Baseball played the lingering waiting game prior to the first pitch against the Mercy University Maverick in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Friday.
The non-conference contest was scheduled for 12:00pm, however, due to inclement weather, the game was delayed just a little over four hours until it concluded in a 9-6 finish in favor of the Golden Falcons.
Here's What Happened:
- The Golden Falcons swiftly loaded the bases with Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.), Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, N.J.). After Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) was hit by a pitch, Voss touched home for the green-and-gold's first run of the afternoon, 1-0.
- Mercy came back to equalize the score in the bottom of the second, however, the Golden Falcons edged the Mavericks with two runs in the third, where Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) posted his third home run of the season, and fourth innings for the 5-1 advantage.
- Through five innings, Felician maintained their lead by two runs, 5-3, which created a safety net for the squad when the Golden Falcons and the Mavericks recorded three runs in the sixth, one of which coming from Scrivanic's 2 RBI homer, to have the score feature 8-6 with two frames remaining.
- Felician held the Mavericks scoreless in the final moments of the contest while they added one more, 9-6, on a Geano RBI single to secure the victory and to snap the Felician Baseball losing skid.
Box Score Insights:
- Both Genao and Scrivanic posted their third home run of the season in the event and both have recorded three RBIs. Genao finished the day going 3-5 at the plate while Scrivanic went 2-3 with a walk.
- Voss (2-5), Kendrick (0-2), Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, F.L.) (2-5) each had one RBI. Freshman, Andrew DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 1-3 with two runs.
- Dylan Morrill (Teaneck, N.J.) secured the victory from the mound for the Golden Falcons in 3.0 innings and struck out four. Jordan Savinon (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded his second save of the season when he came in to pitch 2.0 innings and struck out three.
Baseball (2-8) will be back in action Saturday morning for a doubleheader with Southern Connecticut State University at 10:00am and 1:00pm on Crosley Field.
