Baseball Drops Twice to Southern Connecticut State

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Felician Baseball (2-10) featured their lone double header of the weekend versus Southern Connecticut State University at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Golden Falcons dropped twice to the Owls, 4-14 in game one and 2-6 in game two. 

GAME ONE: 9 INNINGS
  • Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) slammed his first home run of the season wearing green-and-gold in the bottom of the first inning to give Felician the 1-0 lead. Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) was added onto the basepaths after getting hit my pitch and was ultimately sent home on a Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) triple, 2-0. 
  • Andrew DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.) became the third Felician run of the day on a Voss RBI single, 3-0, however, the Golden Falcons leads was soon wiped to a clean slate after a three-run fourth inning for the Owls, 3-3. 
  • The Owls would take the lead two innings later after recording two more, 3-5, and Felician would stick right with their opposer with one of their own in the same inning thanks to DeAngelis RBI at bat, 4-5.
  • Felician's rookie RBI in the bottom six would be their final run of the contest, but the Owls added nine more for the 4-14 game one victory. 
Box Score Insights: GAME ONE
  • Voss went a perfect 4-4 at the plate with a homer and two RBI to pace the green-and-gold. Kendrick was 2-3 with an RBI while DeAngelis was 1-4 with one run and an RBI.
  • Starting pitcher Nick DeCarlo (Jackson, N.J.) pitched an impressive 5.0 innings to strike out 11 Owl batters and to only walk one. Through the pitching rotation in game one, the squad struck out 14 batters, DeCarlo leading the way with his 11. 
  • Despite only having four runs, the Golden Falcons had 11 hits, but committed three errors. 

GAME TWO: 7 INNINGS
  • In te seven inning game two, the Owls picked up right where they left off in game one after a six run bottom two inning, 0-6. By the fourth inning, the Golden Falcons recorded their first two runs of the game which was ignited by a Scrivanic homerun, 1-6, and an Alex Torress RBI single, 2-6. 
  • After those two scoring innings for the Owls and Golden Falcons, both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the game two contest for Felician's second loss in the double header.
Box Score Insights:
  • Scrivanic was 1-2 with a walk, an RBI, and a home run to lead the Golden Falcons in the second contest. Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) went 2-3 with a run. 
  • Kyle Brown (Scotia, N.Y.) posted his first double of his collegiate career against the Owls. 
  • With the 2 runs, the Golden Falcons connected the bat more than the Owls with 10 hits compared to the Owls' eight. 

The Golden Falcons will wrap up their time in Myrtle Beach Sunday afternoon with a single game against Franklin Pierce at 12:00pm on Ebbets Field.
