Women's Lacrosse Features a Victory Over UDC During Home Opener

RUTHERFORD, N.J.- Felician women's lacrosse (1-2) opened up at home on Monday afternoon with a win over out-of-conference opponent the University of the District of Columbia. 
 
The Golden Falcons ended the game with a 16-5 victory, outshooting the Firebirds by a whopping 42-15. 
 
Here's What Happened: 
  • Felician scored the first three goals of the game, going into the second quarter up 3-0. Gabby Sammarco (Morganville, N.J.) caged her first goal of the season three minutes into the game with an assist by sophomore Kenzie Fox (Surrey, British Columbia). Mary Gazaleh (East Windsor, N.J.), assisted by Aly Amadruto (Tinton Falls, N.J.), and Julia Ravazza (Tuolumne, Calif.) also netted goals in the first quarter. 
  • The Green-and-Gold go on to score two goals in the second quarter, three in the third, and really turn it on in the fourth quarter scoring eight goals. 
  • During the third, the Firebirds went on an intense rally of caging three goals, two of them consecutively, which forced Felician to call a time out in an attempt to halt any momentum the opposers could grasp, 8-4. Ultimately, the Firebirds ran out of steam after the fiery third quarter allowing the green-and-gold to tally eight for their first victory of the 2024 season.
  • Sophomore Kayla Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) and Captain Emma Perone (East Brunswick, N.J.) both scored their first goals of the season in the fourth quarter. Fox also picked up five ground balls.
 
Box Score Insights:
  • Gazaleh and Ravazza led the Golden Falcons with four goals each, Ravazza also gathering three assists on the day. Amadruto scored her first collegiate career hattrick, earned an assist, and picked up six ground balls.
  • The Fox sisters, Perone, Sammarco and Amanda Panaccione (Old Bridge, N.J.) each netted a goal.
  • Kenzie Fox (2), Panaccione (1), and Sammarco (1) all recorded assists. 
  • Goalkeeper, Ilyanna Rivera (Waterford, Conn.), saved two and picked up two ground balls. 
 
Felician women's lacrosse travels to Sparkill, N.Y. to face St. Thomas Aquinas for their next match-up on Saturday, March 2nd, at noon.
