Amadruto Cages Two in Women's Lacrosse Defeat to STAC

SPARKILL, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, Felician women's lacrosse was defeated 15-5 by St. Thomas Aquinas (STAC) in Sparkill, N.Y. in a rainy non-conference Saturday contest. 

The Golden Falcons were held scoreless in the first to cage at least a goal throughout the remainder of the contest, but fell short to be handed their third loss of the 2024 season. 
 
Here's What Happened:
  • The Spartans came out strong, scoring six goals in the first quarter while Felician struggled to find a response to enter the second period trailing, 6-0. 
  • STAC scored three straight to start the second until Golden Falcons' freshman Aly Amadruto (Tinton Falls, N.J.) interrupted their run with a free position goal for the green-and-gold's first goal of the day. By halftime, the Spartans held a nine goal lead over the Golden Falcons, 10-1. 
  • Sophomore Julia Ravazza (Tuolumne, Calif.) opened the third with an unassisted goal in transition however, it didn't take long for the hosts to pile on points  to make the score 12-2.
  • Kenzie Fox (Surrey, British Columbia), Mary Gazaleh (East Windsor, N.J.), and Amadruto all found the back of the net in the final quarter of the game. The Spartans also net three goals of their own, to finalize the game at 15-5.
 
Box Score Insights:
  • Amadruto paced the Golden Falcon offense with 2 goals while Gazaleh ended the day with 1 goal, 2 draw controls and 1 caused turnover. Gretchen Polst (Old Bridge, N.J.) also earned 1 caused turnover. 
  • Fox had 1 goal, a ground ball and a draw control while twin sister Kayla Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) picked up 4 ground balls and 2 draw controls
  • Claudia Goncalves (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Emma Perone (East Brunswick, N.J.) had 3 ground balls each, Goncalves winning a draw control and Perone also causing 2 turnovers. 
  • Ilyanna Rivera (Waterford, Conn.) earned 9 saves in the cage for the Golden Falcons, while also picking up 4 ground balls. 
 
Felician women's lacrosse, now 1-3, go on the road to Springfield, Mass. on Saturday, March 9th for another non-conference contest against American International College at 4pm.
