RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician men's lacrosse (2-2) hosted the long awaited 2024 home opener as they welcomed Tiffin University (O.H.) Dragons on Sunday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Freshmen duo of
Connor Langdon (Shirley, N.Y.) and
Jayden Rios (Stony Point, N.Y.) combined for nine of the green-and-gold's 13 goals as the Golden Falcons toppled the Dragons 13-9.
Here's What Happened:
- In under 2-minutes into regulation, the Golden Falcons caged their first goal of the day from a Jabes Escalante (Chelsea, M.A.) assist to two-time CACC Rookie of the Week, Rios, for the 1-0 lead.
- Tiffin would obtain the 2-1 lead midway through the first, however, Langdon posted two consecutive goals and put the hosts back up by one, 3-2. They never surrendered their lead for the remainder of the day.
- The Dragons held the Golden Falcons to one goal throughout the entire second quarter to sit within one as halftime rolled around, 5-4. Rios, Langdon, and Escelante found the back of the net in the third for the 8-4 lead as the green-and-gold continued to edge the Dragons.
- Felician would present their highest scoring quarter in the third from goals by Langdon, Rios (2), Anthony Torre (Clifton, N.J.) - his first collegiate career goal -, and Liam Dunn (Murfreesboro, T.N.) as the Golden Falcons closed out the afternoon with a 13-9 home opener victory over the visiting Dragons.
Box Score Insights:
- Langdon led the charge with five goals while Rios had four. Rios went 20-24 in faceoffs and posted 12 ground balls in the process.
- Drew Gisinger (Beachwood, N.J.) recorded two assists.
- Cole Juengerkes (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) tied the all-time high for caused turnovers in a game with five in the non-conference contest and Dunn was right behind with three.
- Nick Grebe (Farmingdale, N.Y.) snagged the win in goal for the Golden Falcons with 11 saves.
