Golden Falcons Down Virginia State University at Home

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician men's lacrosse (3-2) welcomed Virginia State University to Tyron Field in Rutherford, N.J. for a non-conference match up Saturday afternoon.

Freshman, Jayden Rios (Stony Point, N.J.), posted his third hattrick of the season to aid in the team's 10-4 victory over the Trojans.

Here's What Happened:
  • The Golden Falcons were swift when they caged their first goal of the day by Rios to grasp the immediate 1-0 lead over their opposer. Drew Gisinger (Beachwood, N.J.) added onto the advantage with an unassisted goal, 2-0, and right at the end of the first quarter, Liam Dunn (Murfreesboro, T.N.) found the back of the net, 3-0.
  • The Trojans were able to score one in the second and held the Golden Falcons to just their three to trail the green-and-gold, 3-1. After intermission, the Golden Falcons recorded four, for their largest quarter of the contest on goals by Rios, Gisinger, Luke Dayton (Haddon Township, N.J.), and Finn Crocker (South Hamilton, M.A.), 7-2.
  • By the final quarter, the Trojans tallied two and the hosts three as the Golden Falcons secured the 10-4 victory to improve to 3-2 overall.
Box Score Insights:
  • Rios led the charge with three goals, eight ground balls and went 12-14 in face offs. Gisinger and Dayton were right behind with two goals apiece while Dayton added an assist.
  • Just last week, a men's lacrosse sophomore tied the all-time caused turnovers in a game statistic, and on Saturday afternoon Dunn joined his teammate with five and seven ground balls. Matthew Branco (Saddle Brook, N.J.) caused four and picked up four grounds balls.
  • Nick Grebe (Farmingville, N.Y.) got the win in goal when he made 15 saves.
UP NEXT: ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE
Felician men's lacrosse will be back in action on Tuesday in Sparkill, N.Y. when they play St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3:00pm.
