Golden Falcons Kick Start Florida Trip with West Chester (Pa.)

MELBOURNE, F.L. - Felician Softball (3-11) started off their spring break down in Melbourne, F.L. for the Space Coast Invitational Sunday morning.

The Golden Falcons started with a doubleheader with West Chester University (P.A.) and ultimately dropped in both to the Rams.

GAME ONE: 5 INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
  • Felician showed promise as they posted an immediate run in the first inning on an Alexis Velotta (Menifee, C.A.) single to send home Layla Albarran (Whittier, C.A.), 1-0.
  • Unfortunately, the RBI at bat by the senior would be the green-and-gold's last as the Rams rallied for 11 runs through four innings to halt the game after five for the Golden Falcons first loss of the week.
Box Score Insights:
  • Velotta and Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, N.V.) went 1-2 on the day with Velotta holding the lone RBI of game one.

GAME TWO: 7 INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
  • Game two featured a more eventful plate appearance for the Golden Falcons. After the Rams continued their hot streak with three runs in the top of the first, Felician was led off by Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.), who was eventually sent home by Albarran, to dig into the Ram lead, 1-3.
  • Hannah Ramirez (Carson, C.A.) reached the bases on a double - in which positioned O'Reilly to score - and Katie Steinmetz (Chula Vista, C.A.) sent her teammate home for the second run of the inning, 2-3.
  • The Rams held off the Golden Falcons through four innings while they rallied five for the 2-8 lead by the sixth inning.
  • Alessandra Colon (North Brunswick, N.J.) recorded an RBI at bat to have Steinmetz touch home for the final green-and-gold run of the day.
  • Felician ultimately dropped 3-12 on the day to conclude the doubleheader with the Rams.
Box Score Insights:
  • Steinmetz went 2-3 with an RBI while O'Reilly and Ramirez went 1-2. Colon posted an RBI of her own going 1-3.
UP NEXT:
Felician will continue their time down in Florida tomorrow afternoon with another doubleheader with Post University starting at 2:30pm.
