LITTLE FERRY, N.J. - Felician softball kicked off Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play Saturday afternoon with their home opener versus Chestnut Hill on Shannon Dalton Forde Field in Little Ferry, N.J.
In the event, the Golden Falcons had a walk off game one win and
Riley Williams (Corona, C.A.) recorded the first ever perfect game for Felician softball in the game two win.
GAME ONE: 5-4 WIN
Here's What Happened:
- After the first inning, Felician sat tied with the Grifins, 2-2, on a Hannah Ramirez (Carson, C.A.) RBI at bat and an opposer fielding error. The green-and-gold took the lead for the first time in the day when Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, N.V.) singled into center field, 3-2, however, the lead was short lived.
- Chestnut Hill posted two runs in the top of the third and held the Golden Falcons scoreless until the final frame, 4-2.
- Ramirez got on base as a lead off after being hit by a pitch and was eventually shifted when Alexis Velotta (Menifee, C.A.) singled to left. With runners of third and second, one out, Victorie Leon (Slymar, C.A.) was up to bat and recorded the walk off single to left field to seal the game one victory, 5-4.
Box Score Insights:
- Ramirez went 2-3 with an RBI while Velotta went 1-3 with two runs. Leon recorded two RBIs and went 1-2 at the plate with a walk.
- Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.), Lacey Camden (Corona, C.A.), and Velotta swiped one base each.
- Williams recorded her first win of the day with 7.0 innings pitched and struck out 12 to tie the all-time in game record for the program.
GAME TWO: 7-0 PERFECT GAME
Here's What Happened:
- Let's keep this simple... The Golden Falcons recorded at least one run in the first, third and sixth innings on at bats by Velotta (2), O'Reilly, Katie Steinmetz (Chula Vista, C.A.), and Daisha Howard (Westbury, N.Y.).
- With that being said, Williams posted another win with the first ever perfect game in Felician Softball history. Not only did she tie the all-time in game strikeout record, she tallied the perfect game with the help of her teammates keeping her afloat.
Box Score Insights;
- Williams in game two pitched 7.0 innings and struck out four.
- Velotta led the team at the plate going 2-4 with two RBIs while O'Reilly, Howard, and Brown went 1-3.
The Golden Falcons improve to 7-15 overall.
