LYNDHURST, N.J. - Felician Baseball (13-15 / 3-2 CACC) hosted a 7/7 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) cross over doubleheader with Wilmington University (Del.) Sunday afternoon at Breslin Field.
Throughout both contest, the green-and-gold's rallies propelled the squad to the two game sweep of the Wukdcats to improve to 3-2 in the CACC.Â
GAME ON: 3-2 WIN
Here's What Happened:
- Wilmington was on the board first with a top of the second run. The Golden Falcons were not able to post a run of their own until the fourth when Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) hit a home run to equalize the score at one, 1-1.Â
- The next inning after the graduate's homer, the Wildcats edged the hosts, 2-1, with another point in the fifth and maintained that advantage prior to the bottom of the seventh.Â
- Felician had one more shot at securing the win as they trailed their opposer by a single run. The Wildcats captured a strike out for the swift one out in hopes to push the game away from the Golden Falcons grasp. Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) made an appearance as a pinch hitter and made use of that with a single for one man on. As Wilmington was able to record the second out, Felician eventually put runners in scoring position on an Andrew DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.) single, who then stole second soon after.
- Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, F.L.) posted the walk off at bat for the two runs the green-and-gold needed to secure the game one victory, 3-2.Â
Box Score Insights:
- Walters went 2-4 with two RBI while Voss went 2-3 with a run and an RBI. DeAngelis went 1-4 with a run.Â
- DeAngelis and Chris Biolsi (Edison, N.J.) swiped a base each.Â
- Starting pitcher, Jordan Savinon (Staten Island, N.Y.) pitched a complete game with 7.0 innings and two strikeouts. He improves his record to 1-1 on the season.
GAME TWO: 4-0 WIN
Here's What Happened:
- Felician maintained momentum from game one and was able to post four runs through two innings and shut out the Wildcats, 4-0, for the Sunday sweep.Â
- The bottom of the fourth, the squad's largest inning of the contest, was ignited by Walters who tripled for another RBI at bat while Voss took advantage of a Wildcat error for the RBI and Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) with an RBI double.Â
- By the fifth, Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) was able to send home Alex Torres (Jackson, N.J.) for the fourth run of the day, 4-0.Â
Box Score Insights:
- DeAngelis went 2-3 with a run while Walters and Scrivanic went 1-3 with an RBI. Torres went 1-2 with an RBI.Â
- Derek Vonhorn (Hillsborough, N.J.) captured the win from the mound in 4.0 innings pitched and four strikeouts.Â
- Dylan Morrill (Teaneck, N.J.) and Mike Caldon (Matawan, N.J.) came in as relief for an inning and they struck out two each.Â
