Softball Tumbles at East Stroudsburg University in Doubleheader Action

EAST STROUDSBURG, P.A. - Felician softball (3-9) traveled back to Pennsylvania for some non-conference doubleheader action with #5 East Stroudsburg University Friday afternoon.

The Golden Falcons tumbled to the Warriors twice as they could not halt the dominating force of the hosts. Last season, as of April 2023, ESU was ranked first in the Atlantic Region of Division II and they sat #5 overall in the NFCA National Poll.

GAME ONE: 6 INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
  • Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) led off for the Golden Falcons to kick off the first pitch and was able to swiftly get on base with a single through the left side. As she put herself in scoring position, the Warriors were able to record the three outs needed to keep the green-and-gold off the board. As the first inning concluded, the Warriors tallied two runs, 0-2.
  • Just like how the first started for Felician, Alexis Velotta (Menifee, C.A.) posted a first up single to give the Golden Falcons an early baserunner. Freshman, Layla Albarran (Whittier, C.A.) joined the senior with a single herself to put two out there for the possible equalizer or lead change. The Warrior's pitcher dug deep and ultimately struck out three to keep the squad scoreless.
  • By the end of the game one, the Golden Falcons could not halt the heavy swings of the Warriors and dropped in six innings, 0-8.
Box Score Insights:
  • O'Reilly and Hannah Ramirez (Carson, C.A.) went 1-3 at the plate while Velotta and Albarran went 1-2.
  • Riley Williams (Corona, C.A.) recorded the loss in the circle pitching 3.2 innings and striking out seven.

GAME TWO: 5 INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
  • With another chance to shake off game one, the Golden Falcons started game two with an O'Reilly walk. However, the green-and-gold succumbed to the Warriors defense and that first run of the day has yet to be seen.
  • The lone hit of game two came from Albarran in the top of the second when she posted a lead off double.
  • As the Warriors piled on three runs in each inning up until the fourth, the hosts shut out the Golden Falcons through five innings for the green-and-gold's second loss of the day.
Box Score Insights:
  • Albarran went 1-2 at the plate and led the team with one hit and a double.
