Five Golden Falcons Score in Tough Battle with Caldwell University

WEST CALDWELL, N.J. – Felician women's lacrosse loses a tough Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference battle on the road versus Caldwell University Sunday afternoon.

The CACC contest ended with a 17-11 score in favor of the Cougars with Felician sophomore, Mary Gazaleh (East Windsor, N.J.), leading the charge with a career best 6 goals during the game. 
 
Here's What Happened: 
  • Caldwell put themselves on the scoreboard first, with a goal almost four minutes into regulation. Gazaleh answered back with a swift point for the Golden Falcons, before the Cougars added 4 more to end the first quarter, 1-5.
  • Gazaleh adds her second goal of the game during the second quarter by rolling the crease on her defender to trail the hosts by three. Despite her efforts, Caldwell added another 2 in this quarter to go into halftime trailing 2-7. 
  • The Golden Falcons win the third quarter, scoring 6 goals to Caldwell's 5. Gazaleh adds three more, with one being unassisted and the other two assisted by Claudia Goncalves (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Gretchen Polst (Old Bridge, N.J.). 
  • Amanda Panaccione (Old Bridge, N.J.), Aly Amadruto (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Julia Ravazza (Tuolumne, Calif) also tallied goals in the third quarter. 
  • Goncalves joins the goal column in the fourth with two goals of her own, and Gazaleh tallies her final one of the night. The Cougars add 5 to bring the final score to 17-11. 
 
Box Score Insights: 
  • Along with Gazaleh's career high in goals she also secured five draw control wins. 
  • Goncalves had 2 goals and an assist for 3 points while Amadruto had a goal,, 5 draw controls, 2 caused turnovers, and one ground ball.
  • Polst had an assist, a ground ball and 3 caused turnovers, and teammate Melanie Mejia (Clifton, N.J.) also caused a turnover
  • Kayla Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) caused 2 turnovers and won 2 draw controls.
  • Goalkeeper Ilyanna Rivera (Waterford, Conn.) had 4 saves in the loss.
