Women's Lacrosse Seniors Cage a Goal on Senior Day Verus Saint Michael's

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician women's lacrosse battled at Tryon Field with Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon, but ultimately recorded the non-conference loss, 19-7, for their senior night festivities. 

Prior to the start of play, Amanda Panaccione (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Emma Perone (East Brunswick, N.J.) were celebrated on their careers in green-and-gold and ultimately caged a goal apiece in the contest.
 
Here's What Happened:
  • The Purple Knights dominated the first quarter, scoring seven straight while Felician recorded two shots, neither of them on goal. 
  • The Golden Falcons scored first to open the second quarter with a goal from sophomore Julia Ravazza (Tuolumne, Calif.), on a Kayla Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) assist, however, Saint Michael's added another seven to end the half up 14-1.
  • The third quarter sat even, with both teams caging two. Perone started the offense in the second half, with a man-up goal and Ravazza added another of her own to end this quarter. 
  • The Golden Falcons scored two straight to open up the fourth by way of Mary Gazaleh (East Windsor, N.J.) and Panaccione. The Golden Falcons run is interrupted by 3 goals from the Purple Knights, but Felician scores the last two of the game by Ravazza and Panaccione, to bring the final score to 19-7. 
 
Box Score Insights:
  • Ravazza scored 3 goals and had an assist for 4 points. She also won a draw control.
  • Panaccione scored 2 goals, won 3 draw controls, caused a turnover and picked up a ground ball. 
  • Fox caused 5 turnovers, picked up 8 ground balls and earned 2 assists. 
  • Freshman Gretchen Polst (Old Bridge, N.J.) caused 2 turnovers and picked up 5 ground balls. 
  • Gazaleh and Perone scored a goal each, with Gazaleh securing 3 draw controls. 
  • Goalkeeper Ilyanna Rivera (Waterford, Conn.) saved 5 shots and picked up 2 ground balls.

Felician women's lacrosse falls to 2-11 on the season, 1-6 in the CACC. They host Georgian Court University on Monday 4/22 for a 12:30 pm first draw at Tryon Field in Rutherford.
