Seven Baseball Seniors Honored Prior to CACC Split with Bridgeport

LYNDHURST, N.J. - Felician Baseball (24-20 / 13-7 CACC) hosted the University of Bridgeport for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Breslin Field for their senior day celebrations. 

Prior to the first pitch of the afternoon, Felician Athletics took the time to recognize seven Baseball seniors: Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.), Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.), Nick DeCarlo (Jackson, N.J.), Lawrence Zingi-Sabatino (Toms River, N.J.), Derek Vonhorn (Hillsborough, N.J.), Dominic Vincelli (Waretown, N.J.), and Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.). 

The Golden Falcons ultimately split on Saturday, but took the overall series with the Purple Knights when their opposers took game one 6-9 and Felician won game two 2-6.

GAME ONE: 6-9 LOSS
Here's What Happened:
  • Bridgeport score in three consecutive frames for the 0-7 lead over the Golden Falcons to start the day, however, by the bottom of the fourth, Felician put the game within one of the visitors. 
  • The hosts loaded the bases so that when Scrivanic was hit by a pitch the first run of the game was recorded for the green-and-gold. In the event, the Purple Knights recorded three errors throughout the fourth to give the Golden Falcons the momentum to post six runs to trail, 6-7. Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, N.J.) recorded a run in the inning while Andrew DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.) sac flied out to aid in the rally.
  • After the impactful sixth inning for Felician, Bridgeport ultimately edged their comeback and scored three more for the 6-9 Golden Falcons defeat in game one. 
Box Score Insights:
  • Scrivanic went 2-3 while Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) and Genao went 2-4. Julian Uejima (River Edge, N.J.) went 2-5 with an RBI. 
  • The Golden Falcon pitching staff recorded eight strike outs throughout the nine inning contest with senior DeCarlo leading the charge with four of them. 

GAME TWO: 6-2 WIN
Here's What Happened:
  • Bridgeport continued their winning strides through the second game of the afternoon, however, their 0-2 lead was diminished when a Knight committed an error for a Felician run and another DeAngelis sac fly. 
  • In the bottom of the sixth innning, Felician recorded four runs one three singles by Medrano, Kendrick, and DeAngelis for the 6-2 lead and the victory. 
Box Score Insights:
  • Medrano went 2-3 with two RBI to lead the team in game two while DeAngelis recorded two RBI of his own going 1-3 at the plate. 
  • Voss went 1-2 with a walk and Chris Biolsi (Edison, N.J.) went 1-3. 
  • Jordan Savinon (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded the win for a 4-0 record this season and Dylan Morrill (Teaneck, N.J.) closed out the day with one strikeout.

Felician Baseball will hit the road to Chestnut Hill College for a 7/7 doubleheader in North Wales, P.A. Sunday afternoon to close out conference play for the regular season. Game on set for 12:00pm.
