NORTH WALES, P.A. - Felician baseball (26-21 / 17-8 CACC) capped off their 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season schedule when they hit the road to North Wales, P.A. Sunday afternoon for a 7/7 doubleheader with Chestnut Hill.
The Golden Falcons ultimately split the series with the Griffins and despite that, the green-and-gold clinched the #2 seed in the CACC North Division to host the first round of the postseason starting this Friday.
GAME ONE: 4-8 LOSS
Here's What Happened:
- Julian Uejima (River Edge, N.J.) got the green-and-gold on the board first to start the day with an RBI double in the top half of the second. It was not long for the Griffins to answer back where they snagged the lead after two runs of their own to make the score 1-2.
- Felician would equalize in the fifth inning when Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) stole third and scored on a Griffin error.
- Chestnut regroups and posted six runs to put away the game for the Golden Falcons, even though they added two more runs to their side of the board, 4-8.
Box Score Insights:
- Genao led the team going 3-4 at the plate and stole two bases while Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, F.L.) went 2-4 with two RBI. Uejima went 1-2 with a RBI and a walk and Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) walked twice.
- Derek Vonhorn (Hillsborough, N.J.) started the day to pitch 4.2 innings and struck out six.
GAME TWO: 3-2 WIN
Here's What Happened:
- Voss started game two that same way Uejima did in the first.. an RBI double. The Griffins made it an even playing field once more with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first and eventually the lead in the second, but it was in the sixth inning that Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) gave Felician their second wind on a homer, 2-2.
- The transfer graduate student, Voss, recorded his second double of the contest to give the Golden Falcons to go ahead run and the win, 3-2, as Felician splits with the Griffins for the 17-8 CACC finish.
Box Score Insights:
- Scrivanic went 2-3 with a home run and a RBI while Voss went 2-4 with two RBI and two doubles.
- Sean Evangelista (Queens, N.Y.) went 2-3 and Walters ended game two going 1-3. Genao walked twice.
- Logan Waltz (Hazlet, N.J.) started game two with six strike outs in 3.2 innings while Kyle Bednarski (West Milford, N.J.) posted the win in1.0 innings with one strike out. Nick DeCarlo (Jackson, N.J.) recorded his first save of the seaon with three consecutive strike outs.
