Langan Reaches 500 Win Milestone in Caldwell Sweep

LYNDHURST, N.J. - Felician baseball (18-15 / 8-2 CACC) hosted Caldwell University for their doubleheader of the three game series Saturday afternoon at Breslin Field. 

The Golden Falcons were able to secure the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference sweep to give head coach, Chris Langan, his 500th career win with the green-and-gold.

GAME ONE: 11-1 (7 INNINGS)
Here's What Happened:
  • Felician posted a run through every inning except the first to swing the 7-inning 11-1 victory over the Cougars and the Staten Island, N.Y. pitching duo, Jordan Savinon and Nick DiMartino, held the opposing team to just two hits.
  • Cole Porter (River Vale, N.J.), Andrew DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) snagged RBI at bats in the second for the 3-0 advantage. In the bottom of the third, the green-and-gold tallied three more runs by Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, N.J.), Chris Biolsi (Edison, N.J.), and Porter to lead 6-0. 
  • By the fifth, the Cougars were able to tally their lone run of the game, but it was too late for the comeback as Felician soared to a game one victory, 11-1. 
Box Score Insights:
  • Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) went 2-2 with two  RBI and two walks while Kendrick went 1-3 with an RBI and two walks. Medrano posted two RBI's himself and went 2-3 at the plate.
  • Porter went 1-1 with 3 RBI to lead the team with being hit by a pitch twice and a sacrifice fly. 
  • Savinon pitched 6.0 innings and struck out five and DiMartino pitched the final inning with two strikeouts. 

GAME TWO: 8-0 
Here's What Happened:
  • Felician's pitching staff had a stellar outing throughout the day and in game two, they were able to secure a shut out victory, 8-0. Daniel Kiritsis (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) started on the mound and pitched 5.0 innings and struck out four. Max Weber came in for relief with 1.0 innings and struck out two while Dan Afflitto (Hazlet, N.J.) struck out one in the final inning.
  • The Golden Falcons kept up their momentum with two runs in the first, three in the second, and three in the third. In the third, Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) bombed his fifth home run of the season.
  • RBI at bats throughout came two were presented by DeAngelis, Voss, Dillon DiBartolomeo (Franklin Lakes, N.J.), and Kendrick. 
Box Score Insights:
  • Voss went 1-1 with a home run and two RBIs while Porter went 2-3 with an RBI. 
  • DeAngelis recorded two RBI of his own when he went 2-3 at the plate in game two.
