Women's Volleyball Completes Tri-Match 1-1, Ending Their Losing Streak

Rutherford NJ - Felician University Women's Volleyball hosted their second tri-match on the season when they went up against West Chester of PA and Saint Thomas Aquinas. First match wouldn't be the best for the Golden Falcons as they would fall to West Chester 3-0, but they would break their losing streak beating Saint Thomas Aquinas 3-1. Here's a breakdown of each game.

First Game Vs West Chester - The Golden Falcons would begin this contest holding their own with a 6-3 score, with the assistance of Megan Barker and blocks coming from Ashanna Caviness. The opposing team would come back and both teams would keep pushing back and forth with kills coming from Karla Maldonado and Tatum Williams, however the Golden Rams would push ahead to bring the score to 1-0. Leading into the second set it would start off the same, with the Golden Falcons pushing ahead to a score of 9-3 with the help of Kiah Jackson getting a kill and Aly Reeser achieving multiple digs. The opposing team however would go on two big runs to then bring the score to 2-0, putting the Golden Falcons back against the walls. In the third set, the most competitive set, the Golden Falcons did not go down without a fight. Kills by Karla Maldonado, Sara Betts, Ashanna Caviness, and errors by the opposing team helped keep them within this set, bringing it to a 23-22 point score. In the end it would go one point back and forth, but in the end the West Chester Golden Rams would win the set 25-23, giving the Golden Falcons another loss on the season.

Second Game Vs Saint Thomas Aquinas - In what would be a great test for the Golden Falcons, they did not disappoint in this match. in the first set the Golden Falcons achieved a few kills coming from Ashanna Caviness, Megan Barker, and Karla Maldonado, but the Spartans didn't let go of the lead giving them the 1-0 lead to start this match. This wouldn't scare the Golden Falcons as they start fighting back against the opposing team during the second set, with assistance coming from Rowan Jensen, Tatum Williams, and Aly Reeser to keep the score close throughout this entire set. When the score went to 22-20, with Kelly Samano serving, the Golden Falcons would bring home their first set victory within this contest to tie it up 1-1. Leading into the third set the Golden Falcons did not lay off the gas, as they would start off down 6-1, then fight back every point this set. The assistance of Rowan Jensen and Kiah Jackson plus Saint Thomas consistently causing errors help bring the Golden Falcons right back into it with a 7-1 point run to give them the lead 15-13. The would be a few points going back and forth afterwards, but the Golden Falcons would go on another 6 point run to seal a 3rd set victory to bring the score to 2-1. With the fourth set upon them, the chance of breaking their losing streak, they fought until the very end to secure the victory. They started off with a defecit of 15-8 to kick things off, but with the kills by Megan Barker, Ashanna Caviness, Kiah Jackson, Rowan Jensen, Tatum Williams, the defensive help by Aly Reeser, and the setting ability by Sophia Watterson, the Golden Falcons snapped their losing streak and brought back a victory for the Golden Falcons.
