East Rutherford NJ - Felician's Men's Soccer begins their 2024 season on the road against Bloomsburg. Going into this, aiming to go back to the playoffs, the Golden Falcons started off hot with the first goal of the season within 7 minutes of the match. This led to a defensive battle going into the second, where there were chances of offense, the defense never stopped and was the key to today's victory. Here's a breakdown of each half. 

 

First Half - Kicking off the game, within the first 3 minutes the opposing team had a chance with a goal, but #55 Sho Horie brought great defense not allowing a goal. Leading into the 7 minute mark, #66 Tim Jeager got his assist with #16 Lorenzo Ferrari drilled the first goal of the season. Leading up to the 10th minute, another shot by Bloomsburg, but this time it's #1 Emanuele Moretti getting the save. With a corner occurring at the 21 minute mark, the men's soccer had a few chances to score, just missed the opportunity. The opposing team kept trying to cross it in, but the defensive line made sure no goals were even close to happening. In the 29th minute, Bloomsburg had a chance with a shot, but blocked by #4 Alvaro Martin Catedo. Right after, another stop by Felician, this time by #15 Yohta Yamanashi. The Golden Falcons kept up with a strong defensive presence to finish off the first half with the score being 1-0, looking to keep the pressure going into the second half.

 

Second Half - Going into the second half looking for more scores and less defense to occur. Started off right away with #27 Erick Vargas who made defensive plays all over the field within the first 6 minutes. With the beginning of the second half going back and forth, the Golden Falcons started attacking more than before. This led to even more chances coming up with #5 Alex Ramos giving the team a better chance to score with his defensive presence and offensive crossing ability being shown. More defense began to be shown however, with the back defensive line staying strong, showcasing constantly that nobody is going through the rest of the game. On the offensive side, #11 Hugo Rodriguez with the opportunity to score a few times, first one being blocked, and the second one going just over the goal. In the 74th minute, Bloomsburg attempts a shot but once again Emanuele Moretti gets another save. Once again, Alvaro Martin Casto and Alex Ramos came up with 2 huge defensive stops within the 82nd minute to slow down the opposing team's offense. Within the last 5 minutes, the entire team made constant defensive stops, breakups, and saves that led to the Felician Golden Falcons to come out of this game with a victory.

 

Falcon's Player of the Game - Winning the Falcon's Player of the Game goes to Emanuele Moretti. He made constant saves, totaling 5 saves the entire match, and made sure Bloomsburg had zero chance of scoring at all during this game. Expect his name to be brought up though out this entire season.

 

Next Game - The Golden Falcons will be back in action on September 11th, when they go on the road against Assumption University at 7 PM. Men's team is looking to keep things rolling as this is a promising start to the 2024 season.
