Rutherford, NJ – Men's soccer delivered a dominant performance Sunday evening, shutting out Chestnut Hill College, 5-0, in a conference matchup. The victory moves the Golden Falcons to 3-4-4 overall and 2-0-2 in CACC play.
Felician controlled the match from the opening whistle, recording 15 shots in the first half and 23 overall while holding Chestnut Hill to just three shots. Bruno Arenal Gutierrez opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing off an assist from Adrian Buri to give the Golden Falcons a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The Golden Falcons exploded for four goals in the second half, beginning with Nico Rubino's first goal of the afternoon in the 59th minute. Rubino added goals in the 69th and 76th minutes to complete his hat trick, becoming only the second player this season to record three goals in a CACC contest and the first to accomplish the feat in a conference game this season. Karl Oskar Robin Friberg capped the scoring with his first career goal in the 89th minute.
Buri finished with two assists, while Bruno Arenal Gutierrez added a goal and an assist and Marcos Sevilla recorded an assist. Mathias Kristoffersen did not face a shot on target and recorded his fourth shutout of the season.
With the regular season entering its final month, several Golden Falcons sit among the conference's statistical leaders. Buri continues to rank among the CACC's best in assists, Rubino has established himself among the conference's top goal scorers, and Kristoffersen remains among the conference leaders in goals-against average and shutouts.
