Suffern, N.Y. - Felician University' men's golf team delivered a solid performance, securing a second place finish at the Charger Challenge hosted by Dominican University (N.Y.). The Golden Falcons posted a 171 (+27) on the 144-par Spook Rock Golf Course.
Felician was led by
Daniel Martensson, who finished t-4 individually with a 3-over par 147. Martensson's first round was a standout as he fired a 3-under par 69 score. Martensson carded three birdies, including two on par three holes.
Pablo Hidalgo put together a steady effort, finishing t-10 at 7-over par 151, while
Alejandro Roig Garcia, Florian Schimek, and Alec Ramos all finished t-12 at 8-over par 152. Roig Garcia and Ramos each posted an even-par opening round 72.
Further down the lineup,
Diego Herrera and Rogelio Gerena finished t-16 at 154 (+10), as
Carlos Ferreira placed 23rd at 159 (+15). Individual competitors
Cesar Castellano and
Kelan Dhanani closed out the tournament t-26 at 170 (+26).
As a team, Felician positioned themselves well after an opening-round 4-over par, but a second round 23-over par left them unable to close the gap on Adelphi, who shot an even-par first round before pulling away.
Felician is regionally ranked ninth and looks to continue their season at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester University.
