Rutherford, NJ – The No. 11 Golden Falcons dropped their first match of the season, falling 2–1 to the visiting Bloomsburg Huskies in a 2024 NCAA Tournament rematch.
The Huskies struck first at the twenty-fourth minute to put themselves ahead. Felician continued to push forward and created chances through midfield, but entered halftime trailing 1–0.
Despite allowing another goal in the second half, the Golden Falcons would find their way onto the board, as Keiji Sugiura (2) scored in the fifty-first minute, off a perfect pass from Dario Gomez. Following the goal, Felician would take control as they dictated much of the pace for the remainder of the game, creating several scoring opportunities, but were unable to capitalize. The most notable moment came late in the contest, when the game-tying goal was overturned due to a questionable call made by an official.
Coming off an impressive opening week, CACC Goalkeeper of the Week, Mathias Kristoffersen kept the Golden Falcons within reach, making six saves on the afternoon, including five in the opening half.
Felician will look to shake off the hard fought loss, and bounce back against Franklin Pierce over the weekend.
