Staten Island, N.Y. - The men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong showing at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas. The meet was highlighted by several top-five finishes across both track and field events.
The Golden Falcon women were led by several top-five finishes on the day, including
Aarysa Moore's runner-up performance in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters, along with a fourth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (9.45).
Chimeremya Odoh added a fourth place finish in the 60 meters and placed eight in the 200 meters, as
Yaralis Reid recorded top-seven finishes in both the 60 meter hurdles and long jump. In the throws,
Destiny Ellerbe placed fifth in shot put with a 11.46 meter mark. The 4x200 relay team of
Shaquira Walcott,
Kariyah Hamilton,
Chantoya Thomas, and Odoh finished fourth overall.
On the men's side
Devin Jones continued his strong season with a second place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 7.20 meters.
Amair Buffaloe placed fourth in the 200 meters and eighth in the 60 meter dash.
Isaiah Gaston and Issac Gaston earned podium finishes in the pole vault, finishing second and third, respectively.
Shawn Katsidzira added a fifth place showing in the 60 meter hurdles (8.73).
Jamal Dyer contributed a top-five performance in the high jump at 1.68 meters. The 4x200 relay team placed third before the 4x400 relay team closed the meet in seventh place.
