Rutherford, N.J. - The Felician women's basketball team jumped out to an early start, defeating Georgian Court, 80-68, on Saturday afternoon.
Felician opened the game with an efficient first quarter, shooting 80 percent from the field and building a 25-15 advantage behind strong play in the paint and transition. The Golden Falcons maintained control through the second quarter, taking a 39-30 lead into halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the difference-maker, as Felician outscored Georgian Court 24-20 while extending their lead to 63-50. The Golden Falcons continued to attack inside, finishing with 48 points in the paint and capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 35 points.Â
Felician's balanced offensive effort was led by
Ane Valle, who recorded 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting, adding five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and six steals.
Stephanie Formby posted a strong performance with 22 points, four assists, and three rebounds, as
Lilla Szilvassy contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Mckenzie Palek added 12 points and five assists, helping facilitate Felician's ball movement, while the Golden Falcons shot 50.9 percent from the field and 76.5 percent from the free-throw line.Â
Felician dominated second-chance opportunities, 15-9, and matched Georgian Court in fast-break points at 17.
