Caldwell, N.J. - The Felician women's basketball team saw a tightly contested match up slip away late, falling 62-52 to Caldwell on Wednesday night.
Felician came out strong, matching Caldwell in the opening quarter as the teams ended tied at 16. The Golden Falcons were led early by
Stephanie Formby, who scored eight first quarter points, but Caldwell gained momentum in the second period and carried a 31-25 advantage into halftime.Â
The game remained within reach throughout the third quarter with Felician briefly tying the game at 31. Despite a strong push in the fourth quarter, Caldwell capitalized at the free-throw line and built its largest lead of the night down the stretch to secure the conference win.Â
Formby led all scorers with 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting and adding nine rebounds.
Ane Valle recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while
Karla Barreno provided a spark off the bench with five points. Felician finished the night with 40 points in the paint and 41 total rebounds.
The Golden Falcons will look to bounce back Saturday, January 31 as they host Wilmington to continue CACC play.
