Rutherford, N.J. - Felician women's basketball closed out a strong fourth quarter to secure a 59-50 victory over the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday evening. The team also honored their four seniors: Camille Arias, Sonia Martinez, Joselish De Pool, and Natalia Jonsdottir.

In a game that featured 11 lead changes and three ties, neither team was able to create separation through the first three quarters. Felician led 15-14 after one, trailed 33-29 at halftime, and carried a narrow 46-43 advantage into the final period. 

Bridgeport pulled within one midway through the fourth quarter before Felician responded with a decisive run. A three-pointer by Mckenzie Palek gave the Golden Falcons the lead for good, and back-to-back scores from Ane Valle and Stephanie Formby stretched the margin to seven. Felician held Bridgeport to just four points in the final quarter, including 1-of-13 shooting from the field, to seal the nine-point win.

Valle led all scorers with 15 points and added nine rebounds. Formby followed with 14 points and five boards, while Palek chipped in 13 points with four assists. Lilla Szilvassy added six points and four rebounds.

The Golden Falcons shot 46.3 percent from the field and out rebounded the Purple Knights 39-31, while also scoring 30 points in the paint. Felician's defense forced 15 Bridgeport turnovers and converted them into 15 points. 

Felician will round out the regular season Saturday, as they travel to Chestnut Hill. Read Full Article
