Staten Island, N.Y. - The Golden Falcons track and field teams turned in strong performances, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and several top-10 results across both the men's and women's competitions.
On the men's side,
Shawn Katsidzira delivered the team's top finish on the track, placing second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.70. In the field events,
Jamal Dyer finished seventh in the high jump and ninth in the long jump. The Golden Falcons saw steady performances in the pole vault from
Isaiah Gaston, who cleared 3.55 meters for eighth place and Issac Gaston who followed in ninth. Franics Osae-Kissiedu added an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. In the throws,
Cian Mckenna led the way with a sixth-place shot put mark of 12.49 meters, while
Aiden Haas and
Adam Gabr placed ninth and 12th, respectively.
The women's team was paced by standout sprint performances from
Chantoya Thomas, who earned a third-place finish in the 200m and a second-place showing in the 400m.
Chimeremya Odoh recorded an eighth-place finish in the 60m, crossing the line in 8.01, while
Imani Fitzpatrick added a seventh-place finish in the 800m. In the field events,
Taylor Peters cleared 1.50 meters to place seventh in the high jump. The pole vault group saw
Makayla Chiariello finish seventh and
Jadelyn Sisco place ninth. In the throwing events,
Destiny Ellerbe turned in a strong showing with a fourth-place finish in the shot put and a ninth-place mark in the weight throw.
The team will compete at the East Coast Conference Championships on Sunday, February 15. The meet will take place at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
