Rutherford, N.J. - The Felician University women's basketball team used a dominant second quarter to pull away from Georgian Court to a 73-48 win Tuesday night in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals.
After a competitive opening frame that saw three ties and three lead changes, Felician held a narrow 22-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Falcons then took complete control in the second, outscoring the Lions 23-4 while holding them to just 2-of-12 shooting. The defensive surge fueled a 45-23 halftime advantage and set the tone for the remainder of the contest.
Felician shot an efficient 51.9 percent from the field and dominated inside, finishing with 40 points in the paint. The Golden Falcons also forced 30 turnovers, converting them into 32 points on the offensive end.Â
Ane Valle led the way with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Stephanie Formby added 19 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, as
Mckenzie Palek contributed 11 points and four assists.Â
With the win, the second-seeded Golden Falcons will advance to the CACC Semifinals at Caldwell. The team will tip-off against three-seeded Caldwell on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
