Pleasantville, NY – Men's soccer battled Pace University Wednesday afternoon, but the Golden Falcons fell, 2-1, in their final non-conference match before the start of conference play.
Felician controlled much of the opening half offensively, recording eight shots and putting five on target. The Golden Falcons created several early opportunities, including three shots on target during the opening 12 minutes, but the match remained scoreless at halftime. Mathias Kristoffersen made one save in the opening half to keep Pace off the scoreboard.
The Golden Falcons broke through in the 67th minute when Andre Cunha scored his first goal of the season, finishing off an assist from Adrian Buri to give Felician a 1-0 advantage. Pace answered in the 80th minute to even the match before taking a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute. Felician continued to push for an equalizer, but Pace held on through the final whistle.
Felician finished with an 18-13 advantage in shots and put 10 attempts on target. Kristoffersen recorded three saves, while Cunha led the Golden Falcons with two shots on target in addition to his goal. Buri also recorded two shots on target and an assist.
