Nyack Gets By Men's Soccer, 1-0, With Late Tally

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician College men's soccer team was shut out for the first time this season on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference decision to visiting Nyack College at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Nyack (5-4-1, 2-3-1 CACC) received the game-winning goal from leading scorer Felix Horn (Halle, Germany) with 12 minutes, two seconds, remaining in regulation. A Nyack player played a ball into the 18-yard box, where a Felician defender attempted a header clear. The ball ended up at the foot of Horn, who volleyed it inside the left post.

A scoreless first half was evenly played. But Felician (4-6, 1-4) had the better of the action in the early stages of the second period. Warrior senior goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) made several high-difficulty saves, including a diving stop on Golden Falcon striker Adrian Sutcliffe (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England) following a corner kick. Sutcliffe also hit a post with a shot after making a takeaway in the box from a Nyack defender.

In the end, Felician was unable to capitalize on a 21-11 shot advantage, including 15-6 in the second half. Ibanez was credited with eight saves in his fourth shutout of the season. Rafal Krauze (Randolph, NJ) stopped one shot for the Golden Falcons, who were led by Sutcliffe and Daniel Camargo (Vinhedo, Brazil) with five shots apiece.
