Nyack Knocks Out Felician In CACC Semis, 3-1

Box Score

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – No. 7 seed Nyack College took control with goals in the 17th and 22nd minutes and went on to a 3-1 victory over No. 6 seed Felician College in the semifinals of the 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, hosted by Chestnut Hill College on Thursday afternoon at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

Felician, which reached the CACC semis for the first time since 2005, completes the season with a record of 10-10.  It is the most victories for the program in nine years. The Golden Falcons' 6-5 CACC record was their best performance in conference play since going 5-3 in 2005.

Felician got off to a fast start on Thursday, hitting the crossbar in the third minute and getting off the first three shots of the game. Nyack (12-5-2), ranked seventh regionally by the NCAA Division II Committee, would turn the tide, receiving goals from Felix Horn (Halle, Germany) at 16:19 and Toni Mutschler (Frankfurt, Germany) at 21:41. The Warriors took the 2-0 lead into halftime, earning an advantage of 10-4 in shots for the period.

Horn, who finished with two goals and an assist, struck again in the 74th minute when he knocked home a Nyack free kick. Felician's Kevin Sinic (Leibnitz, Austria) scored from the middle of the 18-yard box with 12:21 remaining in the contest, but the Warriors successfully fended off the Golden Falcons the rest of the way.

Nyack senior goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) earned the victory with five saves. Freshman netminder Rafal Krauze (Randolph, NJ) stopped eight shots for the Golden Falcons. Azedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium) led Felician with four shots.
