Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Mercy College scored one minute, 40 seconds, into overtime to earn a 2-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over host Felician College on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Mercy (3-1-1) gained possession for the winning goal following a Felician foul on its own side of the field. Senior Lamine Seck (Bronx, NY/Dowling College) sent a pass across the box to sophomore Mustaffa Alobeidy (Baghdad, Iraq/Richard Stockton College), who collected the ball and finished inside the near post. It was the only shot attempt for either team in the overtime period.
Felician (2-3) took a 1-0 lead into halftime on graduate student Adrian Sutcliffe's (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England/Prudhoe) goal in the 41st minute. The Mavericks got the equalizer just 3:54 into the second half, however, when Mark Guerrero (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) finished on a set piece.
The Golden Falcons owned a 12-10 shot advantage. The hosts came the closest to winning in regulation when senior Kevin Sinic (Leibnitz, Austria./Borg Monsberger) hit the right post in the 81st minute. Mercy goalkeeper Nick Papas (Castleton, NY/Hudson Valley CC) earned the victory with two saves. Freshman Rafal Krauze (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) stopped two shots for Felician.
The match was the first overtime contest of the season for Felician, and the second consecutive loss for the Golden Falcons after leading at halftime.
