Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician College wasted a 39-9 shot advantage in a 2-1 double-overtime Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer loss to visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Dominican (2-3-1, 1-1 CACC) picked up the game-winner just 35 seconds into the second overtime period. Freshman Clodalain Lolo (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) got a pass through traffic in the middle of the 18-yard box to the foot of teammate Manuel Valencia (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle), who finished from close range. It was the Chargers' only shot attempt after regulation.
Felician (3-4, 1-2) opened the scoring in the 14th minute when senior Carlos Canido (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Tahuichi) got to the rebound of his own shot and found the back of the net. From there, the Golden Falcons peppered Charger goalkeeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada/St. Mark Catholic) for the rest of the afternoon, but could not pad their lead. Heembrock finished with 18 saves, including two in overtime.
Still, Felician was fewer than three minutes from a shutout victory when a miscue led to a Dominican corner kick. Valencia's kick eventually found the head of sophomore Xavier Forsberg (Green Point, Australia/St. Edwards College), who tied the match at 87:28.
Felician freshman Rafal Krauze (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) was credited with three saves in the loss. Graduate student Adrian Sutcliffe (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England/Prudhoe) was the most active Golden Falcon with nine shots. Felician fell to 0-2 in overtime this season, and is 2-3 in its last five matches despite leading at halftime in all five.
