Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician College failed to take advantage of a 19-11 shot advantage in its 1-0 non-conference men's soccer loss to visiting Molloy College on its Senior Night on Wednesday at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Molloy (5-7) struck for the game's only goal just 11 minutes, four seconds into the contest. Lion junior midfielder Dan Brown (Queens, N.Y./Jamaica) blasted a 25-yard shot from the left side into the upper right corner of the net unassisted. The balance of the first half was uneventful and Felician (4-6-2) trailed at halftime despite leading, 8-4, in shots.
Play opened up for both sides in the second period, as the teams combined for 18 shots (11-7 Felician). Molloy sophomore goalkeeper Justin Corke (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) made eight saves in the half, including several diving stops to keep the Golden Falcons off the scoreboard. The Lions also successfully defended five second-half Golden Falcon corner kicks, including two in the last five minutes.
In the 78th minute, Molloy had a potential second goal disallowed on an offside call, leaving the door open for the hosts to tie. With fewer than four minutes to play, a Felician corner kick led to a shot from Stephen Bray (Cricklade, England/Cirencester) in traffic that was cleared off the goal line by a Lion defender.
Corke finished with 10 saves on the night in earning his first shutout of the season. Golden Falcon sophomore keeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) was credited with three saves. Felician junior Azedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium/CERIA) led all players with five shots.
Five Felician seniors – Jadean Blasse (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro), Daniel Camargo (Vinhedo, Brazil/Sant'Anna), Josh Delva (South Orange, N.J./Columbia), Chris Giordano (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) and Lau San Filippo (North Bergen, N.J./Hoboken) – were honored in pre-game Senior Night ceremonies.
