NCAA Reversal Keeps Men's Soccer Alive For Playoffs Despite Loss At Nyack

Box Score

NYACK, N.Y. – The Felician College men's soccer team allowed a pair of goals in each half in losing its final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match of the season, 4-0, to host Nyack College on Wednesday afternoon at Moseley Field.

However, earlier on Wednesday, the NCAA reversed the result of one of Felician's previous conference losses this season, awarding the Golden Falcons a forfeit victory. The pair of developments left Felician (5-9-2) with a final CACC won-lost-tied record of 4-5-2.

Felician sits in eighth place in the 12-team CACC, and would qualify for next week's conference tournament if Dominican (N.Y) College defeats or ties Caldwell College on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Nyack (8-6-2, 5-3-2) took an early lead when senior Marco Likos (Leipzig, Germany) converted a penalty kick seven minutes, 43 seconds, into the match. Ben Kwast (Warren, Germany) then knocked home a cross in the 32nd minute. Felician missed out on a chance to cut the lead in half when Warrior goalkeeper Jodel Wright (Queens, N.Y.) saved a penalty kick attempt by Golden Falcon midfielder Azedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium) with 4:18 to go in the opening period.

The visitors had trouble generating many serious second-half chances on offense, and Likos completed a hat trick with goals in the 63rd and 66th minutes. Warrior freshman Maxi Fuchs (Unterschleissheim, Germany) was credited with two assists.

Wright made three saves, including the PK, to earn the shutout. Sophomore Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J.) stopped four shots for the Golden Falcons.

Felician completes its regular season with a 4 p.m. match on Friday at the University of the District of Columbia.
