Men's Soccer Drops Road Test To Chestnut Hill, 2-0

Box Score

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Chestnut Hill College scored once in each half to earn a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over visiting Felician College on Saturday morning at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

Felician (4-5-2, 3-4-2 CACC) still sits in third place in the 12-team CACC with 11 points, despite consecutive league losses. Every other team in the conference, however, has at least one game in hand on the Golden Falcons, who have just two CACC contests left to play. The top eight teams at season's end qualify for the CACC playoffs.

On Saturday, Felician was nearly able to escape unscathed from a first half in which it was out-shot, 9-3, and was behind, 3-0 on corner kick opportunities. But a late scramble in front of the Golden Falcon net resulted in a header from Chestnut Hill sophomore Channing Couillard (Jacksonville, Fla.) getting past Felician goalkeeper Daniel Wroblewski (Brick, N.J.) with just six seconds remaining in the period.

The Griffins (5-6-1, 3-3) maintained the one-goal advantage until the 78th minute, when CHC junior Mushe Wamulume (Media, Pa.) got free 1 v. 1 with Wroblewski and was able to finish with 18:05 remaining in the contest. Felician was able to generate some late offense, getting off four shots in a three-minute stretch, but could not get on the scoreboard.

Couillard finished with a goal and an assist for the Griffins, who ended the day ahead, 16-9, in shots, and 5-1, in corners. Keeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, N.J.) picked up his second shutout of the season with four saves. Wroblewski stopped two shots for the Golden Falcons.

Junior Azedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium) was the most active Felician player on offense with three shots.
