Men's Soccer Earns Third 1-0 Win Of The Season

Box Score

NEW CASTLE, Del. – A 39th minute goal by sophomore midfielder Danny Hoyos (Perth Amboy, N.J.) held up as Felician College earned a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over host Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.

Felician (3-1-1, 2-0-1 CACC) is riding a four-game unbeaten streak in which they have scored exactly one goal in each match. All three of the Golden Falcons' victories this season have come by 1-0 scores.

The Golden Falcon defense limited Goldey-Beacom (1-4, 0-3) to seven shot attempts, including just two on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J.) stopped both for his second solo shutout of the season and the fourth of his career.

For its second consecutive match, the lone Felician goal was set up by a corner kick off the foot of junior midfielder Azedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium). On Saturday, Maazouzi found Daniel Camargo (Vinhedo, Brazil), who fed Hoyos in the middle of the box for the game's only goal with 6:25 left in the opening half. Maazouzi moved into a tie atop the CACC leaders with his third assist of 2012.

The Lightning had a potential game-tying goal nullified by an offside call in the 61st minute.

GBC keeper Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela) faced 13 shots and made two saves.
