Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician College men's soccer team suffered its first conference loss of the season on Thursday afternoon, when it could not break through on the scoreboard in a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback to visiting Bloomfield College at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Bloomfield (4-2, 2-0 CACC) is ranked No. 9 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region coaches poll.
Felician (3-2-1, 2-1-1) had its best scoring opportunities early in the match on a pair of turnovers by the Bloomfield defense. But the Deacons recovered to block a Jose Campos (West Haven, Conn./Platt Tech) shot in the 13th minute, and Bloomfield goalkeeper Kieran Moran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) turned away a Daniel Camargo (Vinhedo, Brazil/Sant'Anna) attempt shortly thereafter.
The Deacons had the better of play for the majority of the opening period, however, and cashed in during the 36th minute. Sophomore Phillip Georgiou (Melbourne, Australia/Brighton Grammar) broke free down the right flank and, with opportune timing, crossed the ball to senior Kemar Richards (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Boys), who finished inside the far post. Bloomfield owned a 10-2 first-half shot advantage en route to a 19-10 edge for the day.
The second half was more evenly played, but the Golden Falcons had trouble threatening Moran with dangerous opportunities. Felician also had five second-half corner kick opportunities that the Deacons successfully defended.
Moran earned the shutout with three saves. Felician keeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) stopped six shots.
