Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – After a 40-minute weather delay, neither team could find the back of the net in the final 32 minutes of action as Holy Family University and host Felician College played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer action Saturday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
With Felician ahead, 2-1, at halftime, a soaking rain began during the intermission. Eight minutes into the second period, Holy Family (3-3-2, 1-1-1) obtained the equalizer between the raindrops on the second goal of the game by senior Dodji Freitas (Togo/Samuel Fels [Pa.]).
The storm became progressively worse, and in the 77th minute, the referee stopped the contest due to lightning. When the weather cleared, the teams played the duration of the half plus two 10-minute overtime sessions without breaking the tie. The Tigers out-shot Felician, 4-0, in extra time.
Freitas opened the scoring after the Golden Falcons (3-2-2, 2-1-2) failed to clear a corner kick in the 18th minute. But Felician responded to take the lead, scoring multiple goals in a game for the first time this season. Both Golden Falcon tallies came on headers, from sophomore Keleenna Onyeaka (Birmingham, England/Solihull Sixth Form) in the 22nd minute and Danny Hoyos (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy) in the 34th.
Both goalkeepers played the entire game, with Holy Family senior Kelly Diaz (Palisades Park, N.J./Palisades Park) being credited with three saves and Felician junior Daniel Wroblewski (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) making five.
