Women's Basketball Tops Nyack Behind Plummer's 27

Box Score

NYACK, N.Y. – Felician College received a career-high 27 points and 12 rebounds from junior forward Trina Plummer (West Babylon, N.Y.) in its 64-57 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over host Nyack College on Tuesday evening at Bowman Gymnasium.

Felician (6-11, 6-4 CACC) survived a 29-percent shooting night by establishing an interior presence on both ends of the floor. The Golden Falcons blocked eight shots en route to holding Nyack to 28-percent shooting, and attempted 39 free throws, outscoring the hosts, 24-13 at the foul line. Plummer was 13 for 18 on the night at the charity stripe.

Felician led by nine points with just under three minutes to play in the first half, but settled for a 28-26 halftime advantage. A 12-0 Golden Falcon run turned a one-point deficit into a 47-36 edge with 11:27 to play in regulation, and shortly thereafter, Felician assumed its largest lead of the night, 51-38, on a three-point field goal by Alex Salaycik (Staten Island, N.Y.).

Nyack (0-15, 0-8) nearly came all the way back. Warrior senior Khamari Tellis (Chicago, Ill.) scored seven of her team's next 12 points as the hosts closed to within 54-51 at the 4:09 mark. Following a steal, a tying three-point attempt by Ashley Tallman (Rotterdam, N.Y.) rattled around the rim and out, and Felician scored the next five points (four by Plummer) to secure the victory as time wound down.

Junior guard Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, N.J.) picked up 11 points and five rebounds for Felician, and sophomore guard Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y.) added eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Junior center Keisha Jean-Louis (Somerville, Mass.) turned in seven rebounds and five blocks.

Tallman canned five three-pointers and accumulated 16 points and seven rebounds for Nyack. The Warriors received double-doubles from freshman Jamie McKeither (Laurel, Md.) (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Tellis (13-13).

The Golden Falcons moved past the halfway point of their CACC schedule, and sit in a tie for third-place in the seven-team CACC North Division. Tuesday began a stretch of four out of five games away from home for Felician, which travels to first-place Dominican (N.Y.) College on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m.
