Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Juniors Chris Hall (Newcastle, England/St. Cuthbert's) and Rafa Coronel (Mexico City, Mexico/Thomas Jefferson Institute) scored in a 73-second span late in the second half to lift Felician College to a come-from-behind 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Felician (2-8-1, 2-5-1) appeared headed to its fifth consecutive loss as the clock ticked under the 10-minute mark and the hosts had generated little offense. But Azedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium/CERIA) then played a ball ahead to Hall, whose shot from the right flank traveled across the penalty area and inside the far post for his first NCAA goal at 80:26.
Hall became open again shortly after the ensuing kickoff, but blasted the ball over the crossbar. Felician kept up the attack, however, and a header near midfield from Alex Jean (Notre Dame de Londres, France/Jean Mermoz) freed Coronel on the left side. In stride, he let go a 20-yard shot past diving Goldey-Beacom goalkeeper Carlos Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela/Champagnat) and inside the right post with 8:21 left to play.
Felician had fallen behind on the fifth goal of the year from Lightning senior Andre Jank (Campo Grande, Brazil/Salesiano Don Bosco) in the 24th minute. But after that glitch on his sheet, Golden Falcon keeper Daniel Wroblewski (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) shined. He finished the night with six saves, including one in each half of the leaping variety. Freshman defender Makesi Lewis (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad/Queens Royal College) also cleared a ball off the goal lone.
GBC was awarded a free kick as time wound down in regulation. But Kyle Lawrence (Symrna, Del./Smyrna) kicked the ball into the wall, and as he approached the rebound, the final whistle blew.
Meinhard made three saves, as only five of Felician's 18 shots were on frame. Goldey-Beacom falls to 2-10-1 and 1-5-1.
