Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – In a match with limited offensive opportunities, Le Moyne College converted a corner kick into a 62nd minute goal and came away with a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over host Felician College on Saturday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
As the second half approached its mid-point, Felician junior goalkeeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) stopped a shot by Le Moyne senior striker Emmanuel Chanelo (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) in a 1 v. 1 situation. However, on the ensuing corner kick from the left side, Jamie Carolissen (Cape Town, South Africa/Chesterhouse) found the head of junior defender Trevor Creeden (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) who finished inside the near post.
Felician's best chances to dent the scoreboard came in the final 10 minutes. In the 82nd, Danny Hoyos (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy) found himself open near the top of the 18-yard box, but sailed a shot over the crossbar.
With fewer than 4 ½ minutes to play, Dolphin senior keeper Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) came out to challenge Golden Falcon junior forward Chris Hall (New Castle, England/St. Cuthbert's) on the right side. Hall got off a shot over Silva's shoulder, but Creeden had placed himself in the path of the ball and cleared it. Felician (2-10-1) saw its ensuing corner kick land on top of the net, and did not challenge again.
The opening 45 minutes were scoreless and largely uneventful until the closing stages, when Le Moyne was awarded four corner kicks in the space of 60 seconds. The Dolphins never obtained a shot attempt from the sequence, however.
Le Moyne (8-5) held advantages of 10-9 in shots and 8-3 in corner kicks. Silva needed to make two saves to pick up his seventh shutout of the season, while Tshounikas halted five shots. Hall led all attackers on the day with three shot attempts.
