RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's basketball team outscored visiting Pace University, 24-4, at the foul line en route to a 60-50 non-conference victory over the Setters on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. Felician (3-8) converted its free throws at an 83-percent clip.

Felician senior forward Ashley Morris (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) matched a career high with 17 points and added six rebounds.

The Golden Falcons used their aggressiveness to survive a poor shooting day for both squads. Pace (1-10) was ahead, 14-8, after 10 ½ minutes of action before the hosts recovered for a 23-22 halftime advantage. In period two, Felician once again started slowly, allowing the setters to build a 32-26 bulge with 15:15 to play in regulation.

However, for the next 11-plus minutes of game time, the Golden Falcons outscored Pace, 20-7. The run culminated with a 7-0 spurt that turned a tie game at the 8:41 mark into a 46-39 Felician lead with 4:05 to play.

The Setters came as close as 48-46 on a putback by Alexa Dietrich (Queens, N.Y.) at 2:06. But on the ensuing Felician possession, senior guard Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) sliced between a pair of defenders to convert a scoop lay-up, was fouled, and finished the three-point play. The Golden Falcons went 9 for 10 at the foul line in the final minute, with the concluding 10-point margin their largest of the afternoon.

Pace's 36-percent shooting from the floor was slightly better than the 32-percent figure for Felician. However the Golden Falcons were 24 for 29 on free throws (19 for 23 in period two), as compared to 4 for 11 for the Setters. Felician also committed a season-low 11 turnovers.

Saunders and Trina Plummer (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) tallied 12 points apiece for Felician. Junior swing player Shanice Maynard (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) topped Pace with 13 points.

Felician is idle until traveling to Holy Family University on Jan. 4.
