Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – The Felician College men's soccer team was held without a goal in its 2013 season opener, falling to the host College of Saint Rose, 1-0, in non-conference action Saturday evening at Sullivan Field. In his collegiate debut, redshirt freshman Corey Telfer (North Brunswick, N.J.) was the most active Golden Falcon with three shot attempts.
After failing to convert on a few decent opportunities in the first half, Felician (0-1) saw the Golden Knights use a nifty bit of teamwork to dent the scoreboard with fewer than five minutes remaining until halftime. A cross by Jeff Koslowski (Marlboro, N.Y.) was redirected by Mike Korszun (Schenectady, N.Y.) to the foot of junior striker Ercan Kilic (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), who finished at 40:15.
Felician's best opportunities to equalize in the second half came late. A rocket off the foot of Telfer in the 87th minute missed the net high. In the final 30 seconds, the Golden Falcons were awarded a corner kick, and brought their entire side, including goalkeeper Daniel Wroblewski (Brick, N.J.), past the midline. However, the kick by junior Alex Jean (Notre Dame de Londres, France) rolled through the box and out of bounds beyond the far post, and time expired shortly thereafter.
Wroblewski faced 14 shots and came up with four saves. Felician was unable to test Golden Knight keeper Christian Esposito (Alplaus, N.Y.), who picked up the shutout without making a save, as all eight Golden Falcon shots were off frame.
Saint Rose improved to 2-0.
